From 7 to 9 february, OGS joined the team EutroWarn at the Blue-Cloud Hackathon, the competition to discover and use Blue-Cloud's web-based ecosystem of services and resources. Blue-Cloud is the marine thematic platform of the European Open Science Cloud. The team, led by the Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI), proposed the idea of an Early Warning System for Severe Eutrophication, which mainly threats nearshore aquatic environments by an excess of nutrients in estuaries and coastal areas by industry, agriculture and other anthropogenic sources of phosphates and nitrates.
