Description

Abstract
The specific objectives are to: 1- assemble existing data from public and private organisations relating to the state of sea basins; processing them into interoperable formats which includes agreed standards, common baselines or reference conditions; assessments of their accuracy and precision and creating data products as defined in this tender; 2- develop, test, operate and maintain a portal allowing public access and viewing of data, metadata and data products; 3- monitor and report on the effectiveness of the system in meeting the needs of users in terms of ease and speed of use, quality of information and fitness for purpose of the data and products delivered; 4- analyse what further steps need to be taken to improve the accuracy, precision, coverage and ease of use of the data; 5- keep the portal operational and be prepared to transfer to the Commission or to a party designated by the Commission. This EMODNet Chemical joint tender proposal has been prepared and submitted by the SeaDataNet consortium, represented by almost the complete partnership, in order to cover all sea basins in European waters with data input from almost all coastal states and also to bring in specific expertise, relevant for the EMODNet chemical lot. The partners combine long standing expertises and experiences of collecting, processing, quality control and managing of marine chemistry data and data products together with expertises in distributed data infrastructure development and operation and providing of discovery, access and viewing services following INSPIRE implementation rules and international standards (ISO, OGC).
