Description

Summary
The vertical distributions of temperature in Southern Adriatic and Ionian sea were studied with XBT launches. The measurements were planned to be carried out with two tracks of XBT VOS(Voluntary Observing Ships): ADRIA-VOS-1 and ADRIA-VOS-2. For collecting temperatures profiles, with 10 nautical miles resolution along track, were organized tracks with a monthly and bi-weekly sampling frequency. The ADRIA-VOS-1 track was from Ploče (Croatia) to Malta managed by OGS (Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale). The VOS XBT were transmitted to the ENEA collating centre (La Spezia, Italy) in NRT (near real time by cellular phone) where quality checks an the data were performed. Ships used were: LIPA, Liburnija and Zajc. 24 Datasets. A copy of data is recorded at OGS that is the Italian National Oceanographic Data Center.
